SUT RENEWS MOU with BOKU  ASEA-UNINET MEMBER

On October 4, 2023, SUT delegation led by SUT Rector Assoc. Prof. Dr.Anan Tongraar, Prof. Neung Teaumroong (Acting Vice Rector for Research and Technology), Dr.Mullika Sungsanit (Vice Rector for Engagement, Innovation and Entrepreneurship) and Asst. Prof. Dr. Tapany Patcharawit (Deputy Director of CIA) visited  the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences, in Vienna, Austria, member of ASEA-UNINET.

The SUT delegation was warmly welcomed by BOKU Rector Prof. Dr.Eva SCHULEV-STEINDL, Dr. Margarita Calderon (Head of International Relations), Prof. Dr. Dietmar Haltrich (Department of Food Sciences and Technology), Prof. Dr. Christian R. Vogl (Agroecology), Prof. Dr. Harald Meimberg (Environmental mangament and protection), and Prof. Dr. Hermann Bürstmayr (Plant breeding).

 

On this occasion, the rectors from both universities have renewed the SUT-BOKU cooperation agreement to officially continue with the long-lasting cooperation between the two universities. Since 2005, there have been 33 research exchanges/activities  at the researcher/faculty level as visiting scholars and joint research. There were 25 research student exchanges activities (18 inbound students, 13 outbound students).

 

Most collaborations have taken place between Prof. Dr. Montarop Yamabhai’s MY Lab, School of Biotechnology at SUT and Prof. Dr. Dietmar Haltrich Department of Food Sciences and Technology at BOKU with over 10 Q1/Q2 international journal publications.

 

The SUT delegation also met with BOKU researchers to discuss collaborations on agroecology, environmental management and  protection, and plant breeding. The delegation later visited the pilot plant food technology and the core facility food and bio processing. The visit concluded with a visit to BOKU:base, which is the center for research support and labs for start-ups, innovation, technology transfer.

This visit has been a productive and memorable visit. With the renewed agreement, we look forward to strong and excellent collaborations between the two institutions.
