Huawei Supports SUT to Become Smart City Excellence Center of Northeastern Thailand

 

Nakhon Ratchasima, January 11, 2025 - Huawei Thailand has partnered with Suranaree University of Technology (SUT) to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for developing and promoting IT skills among students under the "Huawei ICT Academy" project. This marks a significant step in preparing and developing advanced information and communication technology personnel for Thailand's ICT industry, as well as promoting self-learning.

The collaboration will also drive smart city solution development by elevating Suranaree University of Technology to become a center of excellence for smart cities in Thailand's northeastern region, promoting the university's potential as a hub for knowledge exchange, research, and training.

 

Mr. Prasert Chanruangthong, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Digital Economy and Society, honored the official opening of the ICT Experiences Center, a technology and innovation showcase center at Sursammanakharn Building, Suranaree University of Technology.

 

Mr. Worawit Jamcpachaisri, Senior Vice President of Enterprise Business , Huawei Technologies (Thailand) Co., Ltd., stated that we are in a world moving towards full intelligence. The key is preparing skills, expertise, and technological infrastructure readiness, with educational institutions playing a crucial role in this transformation.

"Throughout Huawei's operations in Thailand, we have received great support from partners and customers across all sectors. We aim to expand cooperation across regions to make Huawei technology more accessible to customers everywhere. Our collaboration with SUT represents another important step in making technology accessible to all sectors, especially in driving smart city development in the northeastern region towards faster goal achievement," said Mr. Worawit.

 

 

The MoU signing ceremony for ICT personnel development between SUT and Huawei Thailand was attended by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Anan Tongraar, President of SUT, and Mr. Worawit Jamcpachaisri, along with faculty members and senior executives from Nakhon Ratchasima province.

 

Huawei will support comprehensive ICT learning curricula and platforms with modern technologies such as 5G, AI, and IoT, allowing students to experience real solutions, promoting creative thinking, developing technological knowledge, and preparing students for careers in the industry.

The ICT Experiences Center was also officially opened at the Sursammanakharn Building, featuring partner-supported ICT equipment and solutions, including intelligent collaboration solutions for teaching through smart displays or HUAWEI IdeaHub, aimed at providing space for students and university personnel to benefit from modern teaching methods.

 

Associate Professor Dr. Anan  Tongraar, President of Suranaree University of Technology, said that developing entrepreneurial human resources is one of the university's goals. The partnership with Huawei enables more creative work through their expertise and introduction of new technologies, to jointly develop solutions that address various development aspects, especially in strengthening technological human resources.

 

 

Additionally, Huawei and its partners are showcasing network and digital power innovation technologies at Suranaree Agriculture Fair '68, running until January 19, under the theme "Sustainable Agri-Innovation for BCG: Creative Agriculture, Advanced Innovation towards Sustainable Green Economy Development."

 

A key highlight of the event is the E-SAN Agricultural Innovation Hackathon, jointly organized by Huawei and SUT, where participants compete to solve agricultural challenges by applying agricultural concepts, theories, methods, and technology to address issues in the agricultural sector.
