SUT ranks 6th among Thai universities in THE Asia University Rankings
Times Higher Education (THE), has revealed the official results of the 2023 Times Higher Education Asia University Rankings at the THE Asia Universities Summit 2023, held in Hong Kong from June 21 to 23, 2023.
This year, 28 universities from Thailand participated in the ranking. Among them, Suranaree University of Technology (SUT) ranked sixth among the top universities in Thailand, second among the technology universities, fifth in communication and media, fifth in sports science, and in the 401-500 group of the leading universities in Asia.
Associate Professor Dr. Anan Tongra-ar, the Rector of SUT revealed that "From the announcement of the results of the ranking of leading Asian universities for the year 2023 or THE Asia University Rankings 2023 by THE, a world-renowned university ranking institute from UK, has been carried out for the 19th consecutive year. Recently, THE has announced the results of the ranking of 928 leading universities in Asia. Universities from 31 countries across Asia participated in the ranking survey. Asia's top university is still owned by Tsinghua University, China, with the highest score of 88.2. As for the first 16 Thai universities are shown in Table 1.

The criteria used to rank Asia's top universities is slightly different from the criteria used to rank the world's top universities. Specifically, the weighted key indicators and sub-indicators in teaching, research, and industry income consists of 5 main indicators and 13 sub-indicators with weights for calculation, as shown in Figure 1.

SUT ranked sixth in the country with an overall score of 24.9 in five indicators, including 24.0% in teaching, 19.7% in research, 18.1% in research citation, 32.2% in internationalization, and 68.3% in industry revenue.
SUT’s overall score and scores in each area from 2018-2023 are shown in Figure 2. which shows an encouraging trend that watch individual scores are increasing. In particular, research, internationalization, and especially industrial revenue, all show an increasing trend for the sixth consecutive year in the rankings.

"The results of this ranking are very encouraging and reflect the potential of the faculty in the university and that SUT is one of the 'quality universities' in Thailand and Asia." the SUT rector said finally.
